CCAC to hold Open Houses at all campuses and centers on Wednesday, July 17

PITTSBURGH-The Community College of Allegheny County will host Open Houses at eight of its locations on Wednesday, July 17, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This free event welcomes all prospective students, their family members and friends.

Individuals who bring their high school transcript, college transcript or GED can complete their CCAC registration. Attendees can take placement tests, meet with an advisor and learn about CCAC's program offerings in the arts and humanities; business; education, social and behavioral sciences and human services; health; science, technology, engineering and mathematics; and the skilled trades. CCAC staff will be on hand to answer questions about admissions and enrollment procedures, financial aid options, transfer and career opportunities, and college services, sports, clubs and other activities. CCAC personnel will conduct tours of the facilities for interested students and their families. Visitors will also have an opportunity to meet faculty and students.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Associate degree, certificate & diploma programs
  • Programs designed to facilitate easy transfer to four-year colleges & universities
  • In-demand careers that offer strong wages & career growth
  • Scholarships, grants & financial aid opportunities
  • Day, evening, weekend & online course offerings


In addition, CCAC will offer a variety of activities at the campuses and centers, including:

Allegheny Campus: The campus will host Open House in  conjunction with the Student Life Summer Cookout, which will include games, a DJ and picnic cuisine. Inside the Foerster Student Services Center, the campus will offer a faculty & staff meet and greet that will also include hands-on demonstrations.

Boyce Campus: The campus will offer Nursing and Information Technology demonstrations and campus tours. Light refreshments will be served.

North Campus: The campus will feature the Biology; Psychology; Computer Information Technology; Web Development; and Multimedia Programming, Simulation & Gaming programs. Tours will be offered of the Nursing Lab, Library, Math Café, Learning Commons and more.

South Campus: The campus will highlight the Student Services departments, offer tours and help prospective students learn more about the college and becoming a student through games with student ambassadors. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions of faculty and current students.

West Hills Center: The center will feature the Accounting and Psychology departments. Visitors will be able to tour the center's Automotive, Heating and Air Conditioning, Mechatronics and Welding labs, and more. The campus will also feature the new Plastics Manufacturing Technology program that will start in the fall.
